Wayne Gretzky was traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings on August 9, 1988. On his first return to Edmonton to play the Oilers he received a four-minute standing ovation from the Oilers’ biggest crowd ever to that date. After the 1988-89 season, a life-sized bronze statue of Gretzky was erected outside of the Oilers arena.
Gretzky’s signature, witnessed by a UDA representative, was inked in black paint pen. This autographed image is limited to 99. Gretzky’s signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five-Step Process.
