Pokémon fans around the world are eagerly awaiting May 10th, the date in which Pokémon: Detective Pikachu the movie will release.

This film is based on the 2016 video game of the same name, which received widespread success on the Nintendo 3DS.

This movie will star a wide cast of talented actors and actresses, with the most hype surrounding Ryan Reynolds who will play a lead role voice acting as Pikachu.

May 10th may seem like a long way away for fans who simply can’t stand the anticipation and we are right there with you.

Fortunately however, Pokémon’s latest TCG set may be able to satiate some of that anticipation, giving you a small taste of what is to come, while at the same time rewarding you with some exciting collectible products that will be cherished by fans for years to come.

What is the Detective Pikachu Mini Set?

Today, the latest Pokémon TCG products are arriving at houses everywhere to eagerly awaiting fans of the game and the upcoming movie.

This exciting new set is small and will be limited to a small range of products, of which we will highlight later in this article.

It’s base set will contain eighteen cards, some of which we have had the fortune of seeing spoiled early to us;

In addition to the eighteen card base set, Pokémon has announced that there will be an additional eight cards contained within the set, making these eight cards either all “secret rares”, or “Black Star Promos”.

What cards these will be yet remains, and is a mystery as Pokémon is keeping a very tight lid on this set, spoiling only small samples of the cards here and there, as the images represented on the cards also represent scenes from the upcoming movie.

Detective Pikachu Mini Set Products

Now onward to the truly exciting news about this soon to be released mini set, the products that are contained within it.

As mentioned previously, this set will only be available for a limited time and will only be able to be obtained from a very small number of products, fortunately of which Zephyr Epic will happily be offering to our customers pre-order.

The following Detective Pikachu products are available now!

• Detective Pikachu Collector’s Chest
• Detective Pikachu Case File Blister Pack
• Detective Pikachu Case File Greninja-GX
• Detective Pikachu Special Case File
• Detective Pikachu Case File Charizard-GX

Each product will contain differing items, but all of which will contain the limited edition Detective Pikachu booster packs.

The Detective Pikachu Case File Blister pack, along with the Detective Pikachu Special Case File will contain two of the sets booster packs, the Charizard GX case file have four and the Greninja GX Case File will contain five.

Meanwhile, the Detective Pikachu Collector’s Chest will contain the most, with seven limited edition booster packs.

Fortunately, as can be seen from the images above, many of these products come with their own extras, such as addition booster packs from some of the latest Sun & Moon sets and some amazing Black Star Promos.

What makes this set truly different from a normal set, in addition to its small size, is the fact that each booster pack will only contain four cards, all of which will be holographic.

We hope that you are eagerly awaiting the release of this limited edition mini set just as much as we are, as it is filled with amazing and truly unique cards that represent Pokémon in a imagery style that has never before been seen.

The real life CGI that is represented on these cards will make it a set to be remembered for years to come, no matter how small it is.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu the movie is set to release on May 10th, but Detective Pikachu the TCG will be here more than a month before that, releasing on April 5th!
