When a classic hockey card sells for $50,000, you may begin to wonder what modern day cards will sell for a fortune. We’ve put together a list of the 15 future collectible hockey cards.

Each of these are hockey cards which can still be found/purchased today, and in many cases are already worth a small fortune. Let’s jump right into it:

This Mitch Marner is even rare than the Austin Matthews above, but currently sells for about the same price. When one of the 16 cards printed popped up in February, it sold for $710. If you can find one for sale, and have the funds, it’ll make a perfect future classic hockey card.

There are going to be quite a few Auston Matthews cards on this list. His rank as the best active American player in the NHL has resulted in many collectible cards. This premieres autograph card is no different. Only 25 of these were made, and the last one sold for close to $800.

While not as rare as other cards on this list (with 99 printed), the Patrik Laine Ice Rookie Premieres Card is still one of the most valuable cards right now. The picture above doesn’t do the card justice, but it’s really quite an epic card. And, with it selling at around $815 right now, it’s already a valuable card.

This card was printed 34 times, making it slightly more common than some of the other cards on this list, but still pretty darn rare. The last one which popped up sold for $916, making it already a very valuable card. One can only wonder what it’ll be worth 5 – 10 years from now!

Jeez that’s a mouthful. This card popped up just this month (April, 2017) and sold for around $1,000. Any card this valuable is sure to appreciate and become a real fortune down the line.

With only 29 of these cards out there, it may be tough to come across one. And, when they do pop up, they’re selling for around $1,100. That makes these cards one of the more valuable cards of this year.

This card is an interesting one, as it seems only 1 may have been printed (despite the cards 97/97 numbering). If that’s true, you may have already missed your chance to pick it up. It sold in February for $2,125.

This card, only printed 5 times is one of the rarest Auston Matthews out there. If you can find one before the end of this year, you’ll be paying a hefty amount ($2,200). However, if he does win ROY, you’ll be able to quickly turn around this card for some major cash.

Only 10 of these cards were printed, and an unrated example recently sold for $2,260. That’s a huge number for this card, but the card does deserve such a price. If Laine were to win Rookie of the Year, you can only imagine how much higher the value of this card would be!

Now, this card isn’t as rare as some of the others on this list, with examples routinely popping up and selling for around the $900 mark. But, this example specifically is a Pristine rating with a 10 rating on centering, edges, corners, and surface. With such a high rating, it sold for $3,700. That’s a ton for a new card! Even if you can’t snag a pristine example of this card, it’s relatively common making it a great future collectible hockey card.
